2 Minutes: Just Taking Time

A couple nights ago my mind was going a million miles per hour. I had just got off work, I had papers to write and books to read for school, and I had a room to clean. I started picking up my room, when one of my little sisters came in. She had a stack of picture books in her hand and was standing there staring at me. She looked scared. She quietly asked me if I would read her some books. I stopped what I was doing and gazed at her. I thought about all the stuff I had to do and how inconvenient her timing was. However, I also, thought about what mattered more to me. Besides, it cannot take that long to read a couple of picture books anyways. We went into the living room, I grabbed the first book in her pile, and began reading. Two minutes into reading and my sister fell asleep.
In the morning, she walked into my room and thanked me for reading to her the night before. "I knew I could count on you, " she commentated as she turned, walked out of my room, and finished getting ready.
I only read to her for a couple of minutes, but those minutes made the world to her. Sometimes, as people, we get so caught up in the chaotic world we live in that we forget the important people in our lives.
